Ask a Stylist: Glam UP!

{Photo credit: Pinterest}

Hi Tiffany, I need your HELP! I have a full week of high-profile events coming up and I'm conflicted on what to wear. During that week, I can wear whatever I want, but I'm stuck... I'm normally a casual gal, but I'd like to pull off a glam look. I have no idea where to start or if what I have in my closet can be morphed into glam. Any tips?! Thank you!! S
Hello lovely S, When it comes to glamorous ensembles, you don't necessarily need to go out & buy an entire new glamorous wardrobe, I'm sure you have nice dresses that you could turn "glam" with some va-va-voom hair/makeup, accessories & heels. Looking glamorous has more to do with looking "styled", "polished" or "put together", versus wearing sequins head-to-toe. There's a difference between looking glamorous & going over the top. Fortunately, for both of us, you're not honey boo boo. I'm sure you have a plethora of little black dresses, high-low dresses, evening dresses? Slip on a nice dress... add some accessories (stacked sparkly bracelets, a giant cocktail ring & chandelier earrings), curl+tease your hair, smoke your eyes, slip on some high heels & you're set. It doesn't need to be any more complicated than that! You're a beautiful/classy girl & you have natural style (I've seen it)... be you but pump up the wow factor, to like 11. If you genuinely don't have suitable dresses in your own closet, here are some hand selected ideas:
Karen Millen Signature Cotton Peplum Dress Source: Lyst.com RED Valentino Stretch Jersey Dress with Ruffles Source: Lyst.com
Mango Guipure Dress Source: Lyst.com Hervé Léger Square Back Dress Source: Lyst.com
All 4 of these looks could easily transition from day to night. However, if none of these strike your fancy; you'll find a collection of ideas here...
*Please note: If you decide to go with a flashy dress (sequins, bright color, etc.), keep the va-va-voom hair + make-up but edit your accessories a bit.* Remember: you want to look styled, polished & put-together... not over the top! Do this by following one of the following options: 1. Basic LBD + va-va-voom hair/makeup + lots of accessories. or 2. Glitzy dress + va-va-voom hair/makeup + less accessories. I hope this helps. Thank you for your question, S! :) XO, Tiffany
