SPRING is upon us…

This is what happens when you combine a trip to Gilbert, Arizona with your car filled to the roof with wardrobe/shoes/accessories + set-up your rolling rack in the middle of a dirt covered orchard + hair/makeup done on the spot without power (or adequate light) + layers of lace, crochet, leather & rope** + a talented photographer...

Photographer: Christos Sewell Model: Abrianna (JANI Model Management) Model: Allison (JANI Model management) Makeup: Jessica Fierro Hair: Saskia Moot-Almasan Wardrobe Styling: Tiffany {Tank} Tabár

A fabulous location + 2 exquisite models + PRO team = extraordinary results! I couldn't be happier with the final images from this photo-shoot!

**The rope accessories (bracelets, necklaces, etc.) were designed/created (by yours truly) on my dining room table, mere hours before this shoot.

Play Ball!

TIFFANYTANK.COM

I don't know where you live, but where I live "Spring Training" is a big deal on the social calendar! Every year, during the month of March, spring training baseball games are played (every day) across the valley; bringing together baseball fans, families & those who like to be seen (or just to drink cold beer in the warm sun).

A little history: Spring training baseball in Arizona has been a tradition for devoted fans since 1947, when just two teams: the Cleveland Indians and the New York Giants, came here to prepare for the rigors of the long regular season. Today, 15 teams train in the Phoenix metropolitan area in the greatest concentration of professional baseball facilities found anywhere in the United States.

So what do you wear? It's March in Arizona & the weather can be unpredictable. It's either going to be extremely chilly or brutally HOT. Either way - layers are your best friend! Bring a lightweight shrug, cardigan or scarf to keep the chill off your neck and shoulders in the AM or early evening & fold it into your bag during the warm afternoon. Convenience, accessibility & comfort are the way to go! Now, I know you want to look fabulous (there will be a lot of eyes on you) but I want you to look chic & comfortable too! With that being said: Ladies, please leave the heels at home. You're at a baseball game & there are bleachers! Metallic sandals or jeweled flats are more than appropriate, are fashionable & will keep you from crowd diving into the field because you slipped on spilled beer. Not cute. Don't settle for Lululemon when you seek chic/comfort either. Yes, Lulu is great for yoga or even running errands after a gym session but when it comes to being seen - please seek actual clothes. There are other options out there! For instance: I found a plethora of super cute/chic/comfortable choices at Active Body! From colored denim to jersey maxi dresses your search for fabulous spring training ensembles should start and end at Active Body!

Happy New Year! Love, 1975

I'm thrilled to share the PUBLISHED results from a recent shoot I had the privilege of styling!!

TIFFANYTANK.COM

This shoot was too much fun from start to finish!! I loved the idea of taking "New Years Eve during the 1970s" and juxtaposing the fashions from that decade with "New Years Eve 2012/13". "New Year, New YOU" was the concept and VBM {my new favorite store} was my playground!! Vintage By Misty (or VBM) is truly a hidden treasure (fiercely guarded by one-way streets in downtown Phoenix) and absolutely worth the hide&seek! It is positively dripping in vintage of the chicest degree and I couldn't covet every piece in Mistys store any harder! Can I add that I love/adore Misty!!? Misty Guerriero is one of my new favorite people and the owner of this vintage paradise!! {Go see her, she's fabulous!} My fitting with the models was so much fun, I can't even tell you. Combing through all of the vintage pieces (pulled from so many different decades and eras), narrowing down the perfect ensembles and selecting the jaw-dropping vintage jewelry... I was literally a kid in a candy store! I can't wait to return and play dress up again, only this time, for me! :)

Words for the wise: do not shy away from vintage! Do not be afraid to be bold or to stand out! The fashions of the past are not lost, you can find extraordinary {one-of-a-kind} pieces from your favorite decade(s) and wear them with pride and confidence tomorrow! Hunt for those fabulous pieces, mix them into your wardrobe, turn heads and wait for the compliments to roll in...

A wild round of applause is due for all involved!! This was a collaborative success & a truly fabulous experience!!!

Traversing the Iron Veins

An out-of-the-blue/last minute styling opportunity was thrown together yesterday and this is what we came up with... In full disclosure, the wardrobe styling for this shoot was as easy as it gets: the model brought a duffel bag of his own clothes and I styled him from there...
"Wear this, with this!"... "Those jeans, these shoes & here, wear my scarf!"... "What size shoe do you wear? Mine might fit. Let's trade!"...
Although I didn't personally select the wardrobe, I did select the location and thankfully, I knew exactly what Nick was bringing (wardrobe wise) before deciding on the perfect spot. I've wanted to shoot on this bridge for a long while now and I love how Nick's broken-in/oversized clothes mesh with the worn railroad tracks and bridgework. In retrospect however, there are a few things (styling details) I wish I would've/could've corrected, pinned & lint-rolled had we had more time... we were in fact, shooting/trespassing on live working watch for trains railroad tracks, constantly jumping every time we heard "something coming"... but c'est la vie! Ultimately everything really came together {no models were harmed} and I'm really happy with how the images turned out!
The black + white are especially striking {IMO} but I'm naturally drawn to B/W imagery.
In all seriousness, when you combine such a talented model + such an amazing photographer + such a striking location + such perfect weather +++ yours truly... magic is inevitable! ;) Model: Nick Koester Photographer: Dan Tabár Wardrobe Styling, Photo Editing & Creative Direction: Tiffany {Tank} Tabár

*Aspiring*

Since my last entry I've been in the trenches of research, seeking knowledge, guidance, direction... and in full disclosure... I'm overwhelmed!! I've had my nose in every book, article and resource on shoes, design and manufacturing that I can get my eyes on. I could open a library of resources and inspirations that I've collected. There is just so much information to process, so many details I didn't know or never considered but dreams aren't supposed to be easy, right!? Hard work and dedication are both virtues that I possess and fully intend to exhaust during this journey. I still have an extraordinary need, desire and passion to create, to correct what I see as flawed art in the world of footwear. I have a vision. I have a voice! The saga continues...   Thank you for sticking with me! Xoxo
